So you have decided to either jump into the world of Infinity because of the Star Wars sets or are going to upgrade your 1.0 or 2.0 collections. Whether you want to play in the Toy Box, or if playsets are more your thing, this guide is designed to help you pick out what you truly need to get started playing from day one. We will lay out the different starter sets and new figurines to help you decide what to get and what is necessary. So lets go!
All Disney Infinity 3.0 Star Wars starter pack will include the following items. It is also worthy to note that the game is available for Wii U, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC, Android, and IOS.
- Video Game
- Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Playset
- Ahsoka Tano & Anakin Skywalker Figures
- Web Code Card for PC & mobile devices
Includes everything from above plus the following items:
- Star Wars: Rise Against the Empire Playset (Timed Exclusive)
- Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, & Princess Leia Figures
- Web Code Card for PC & mobile devices
It is important to note that if you have a Disney Infinity base from 2.0 you will be able to digitally download the 3.0 software and will not need to buy the starter pack. At the time of this article no price has been announced. There was some talk on Twitter in July from John Vignocchi, (the VP of production for Disney Infinity) that it would be $30. We would expect it to launch at a discounted $20 for launch, but that is just a guess. (https://mobile.twitter.com/JohnVignocchi/status/618865867955179520?p=v)
Depending on what system you have, there will be two or three playsets available at launch. There have been two other playsets announced coming later this year. These include Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Marvel Battlegrounds.
Star Wars: Twilight Of The Republic
According to the official website: "Set during the latter years of the Clone Wars, this intergalactic adventure will allow you to explore the open worlds of Tatooine and Coruscant, battle droids in Geonosis, and partake in an epic boss battle in Naboo."
This is the set that comes with the starter pack for all systems. The other figures that can be played with this set are Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi, which can be purchased separately at launch. A third figure, Darth Maul, will be available on November 3rd.
This playset is a platform-puzzle story based game that plays like Little Big Planet on the PS4. Here is the description from the official site: "Your mission begins when Riley watches a scary movie before falling asleep, which sends Subconscious into chaos. Riley's memories are scattered all over Imagination Land, and it's up to you to help her Emotions return them to Headquarters before Riley awakens. To get the job done, you'll need the unique skills and abilities of each of the Emotions." This set includes Joy and Anger to start you game, other available figures at launch will be Disgust, Sadness, and Fear which is a timed Amazon exclusive.
Toy Box Expansion Games
Two expansions will be available for Disney Infinity 3.0. Toy Box Takeover will be available at launch as a pre-order incentive, and Toy Box Speedway will be released in the "Fall".
Both will support single player and two player splitscreen, while Takeover supports four player co-op online. Toy Box Speedway will support four player online racing when it is released in the fall. Here is the description for Toy Box Takeover from Amazon.
Takeover: When Syndrome gets his hands on Merlin's magic wand, it's up to you to stop him! Join forces with your friends and use your favorite characters in Disney Infinity to battle across multiple worlds and defeat the bad guys before they ruin the Toy Box forever.
The biggest change to Disney Infinity this year is that power disks will no longer be sold in random "blind bags". Instead, they are now being sold in clear packaging in themed packages. These discs will add new skills, new features, and gear to your Infinity experience. There are three themed packs, two Star Wars and one Tommorowland pack that will be available at launch.
