Logan's back! And He's back in prime form. Forget X-Men 3, Forget X-Men Origins, The popular X-Men franchise is back on track! This was the best superhero movie of the summer, hands down. Now, granted, there wasn't much competition, but still, this was an enjoyable ride. Fans of the character should be pleased with his portrayal here, and it will really leave them looking forward to "Days of Future Past." The negatives are that the villain is kind of bland, and the plot tends to drag a little bit near the middle and just before the end. There are a few spontaneous and unexplained motorcycle acquisitions These points don't really affect the overall experience though, as I left the theater genuinely entertained. There's a really great action scene near the middle involving a high-speed rail car. Look for that, it's pretty great. Also, be sure to stay after the initial credits begin to roll, you won't regret it.
Acting: *** 1/2
Writing: *** 1/2
Direction: *** 1/2
Technical: Decent for an action movie. I could tell what was going on, so that's always a plus these days. (I'm looking at you, Man of Shit)
X-Factors: Logan being Logan. Decent direction from Mangold.
Verdict: *** 1/2
Will This Movie end up in my collection? Perhaps if the price is right.
